Consultation Process on monitoring trade in ornamental fish species

The trade in live ornamental fish is a global industry involving both wild-caught and captive-bred animals. However, little is known about the scale of the international trade in many species.

UNEP-WCMC ran a consultation process to engage with the various stakeholders to this industry, including trader organisations, trade regulators, academic experts and conservation organisations to consider the options available to monitor this trade.

The consultation process consisted of three consultative rounds, which ran from 13 June 2008 to 19 October 2008. The consultation process is now closed. All versions of the consultation paper are available below. The final version incorporates comments from all participants and includes an executive summary of the consultation.

All correspondence related to the consultation should be sent to ornamentalfishtrade@unep-wcmc.org
