Public access to GMAD is provided in two ways:

• Via the Internet

This version of GMAD can queried directly through your web browser. It is designed to support fast delivery for simple queries, and does not require users to have MS Access. Full access is provided to pictures from FishBase and taxonomic information from the UNEP-WCMC Species Database. Query options are fixed.

• Via a downloadable MS Access version of GMAD (download here 3.6Mb zip file)

This version of GMAD is designed for regular and detailed queries of the database. It can only be queried using MS Access and so requires the user to have this software, though a windows interface removes the need to for any operational expertise. The query functions are more flexible than the internet version and, if the user has operational expertise in MS Access, then custom queries can be constructed. You can install GMAD on your own PC using MS Access 97 (which can be linked to FishBase 99) available from ICLARM (www.FishBase.org).
